5/6/2018 0 Comments to the pointWelcome back! Much of this week is kind of like a stem from Week 8 or "Taking it Back", which is when I took the last few steps to complete my best attempt at a regular backstroke start. This week, my coach and I came together and agreed that in addition to the work I've done on this specific dive, I needed to incorporate drills into my practice. She said I had gotten "To The Point" in which my dive only has a few minute technical flaws. At the end of the week, I expected to see a decrease in my overall 100 backstroke time by the end of the week with the help of both of the previously listed things.
Much like last week, the drills I was assigned to this week were directed towards the main focus of sprinting. Coach Jo said that there's no point in have a great start without knowing how to race. She often uses the analogies of cars. She said knowing how to crank a car (dive) is one of the most essential parts of driving (swimming/sprinting/knowing how to race an event), but what is cranking a car if you don't know how to drive? The following is a set I was assigned to do during practice: 10*75s (first 25-50%, second 25-75%, third 25-100%) on 1 minute 15 seconds 5*100s sprint backstroke/easy backstroke alternation on 1 minute 45 seconds 10*75s (first 25-50%, seconds 25-75%, third 25-100%) on 1 minute 15 seconds Click the button below to watch the videos and also see my other times from the rest of this week!
