5/20/2018 0 Comments last splash inWelcome to my last blog post! This week was continuing upon the work that I did last week, and really wrapping everything else up. Much like I did after working on my freestyle and backstroke starts, I worked on sprinting AND adding in those dives. That was the plan for this week also. I took the work that I did last week with my relay start and started to use that to my advantage in practicing race-like scenarios that we do in practice to make my "Last Splash In".
This week, there was a drill that Coach Jo assigned us that allowed us to continuously practice relay dives and sprinting all at the same time. It required three people to be present. The first person would be standing on the block and preparing to dive in. The second person was in the middle of the pool and would swim to the pool and touch the wall so that the first person could dive in. The third person was also in the middle of the pool except they swim the opposite way of the block. The third person left when the first person got to the middle of the pool and swam to the other end of the pool, did a flip turn, then went back to the center of the pool. This sounds rather confusing but it works very well. This sequence may help: second person swim to first person > first person dives in and swims to third person > third person does a flip turn, swims back to middle > first person goes when third person gets back > first person swims to second person > etc. Click below to see a short clip of my relay starts from this week, along with the weekly times. Thank you all for continuing on with me throughout these twelve weeks!
