My coach made sure to set aside a block of time to work on specific things such as my best strokes, dives/starts, and endurance. I saw major improvements in my times in comparison to my "base times" from last week.
Being that this week was the first time I've swam in about two weeks, my coach knew that she shouldn't start me out with something like sprinting. Sprinting would have been very risky in reference to any muscles that I haven't used in a while. Instead, she decided to bring back any "muscle memory" and start me back on some long-distance. The long distance portion of the practice took about twenty minutes, and was kind of like a warm-up. After the warm up, my coach decided to focus most of the remaining time on my best strokes; backstroke and breaststroke. Once again, I didn't do any sprinting with these strokes, but I was more focused on the yardage of the swim. The last ten to fifteen minutes of practice were spent on my dives. We worked on the technicality of each of the three dives, and eventually timed the events I'm working on. To see my times from this week, click the button below. Next week I intend to have video proof of the events I'm working on! I'm looking forward to sharing with you all soon!
