last splash in
05/20/2018
Welcome to my last blog post! This week was continuing upon the work that I did last week, and really wrapping everything else up. Much like I did after working on my freestyle and backstroke starts, I worked on sprinting AND adding in those dives. That was the plan for this week also. I took the work that I did last week with my relay start and started to use that to my advantage in practicing race-like scenarios that we do in practice to make my "Last Splash In".

the right timing
05/13/2018
Hello again! This week was specifically focused on attempting to perfect my Freestyle Relay Start. This is a lot different than a lot of the other dives because it's necessary to have another swimmer to complete the dive. So not only is team work incorporated, but also getting the "right timing" down. This will be demonstrated in later videos.

To the point
05/06/2018
Welcome back! Much of this week is kind of like a stem from Week 8 or "Taking it Back", which is when I took the last few steps to complete my best attempt at a regular backstroke start. This week, my coach and I came together and agreed that in addition to the work I've done on this specific dive, I needed to incorporate drills into my practice. She said I had gotten "To The Point" in which my dive only has a few minute technical flaws. At the end of the week, I expected to see a decrease in my overall 100 backstroke time by the end of the week with the help of both of the previously listed things.
last chance
04/29/2018
Hello again! Much of this week relates back to two weeks ago, when I took the last few steps to complete my best attempt at a regular freestyle start. This week, my coach and I came together and agreed that in addition to the work I've done on this specific dive, I needed to incorporate sprints into my practice. In the convergence of these two things, I expected to see a drop in my overall time at the end of the week.

taking it back
04/22/2018
Welcome back! Much of this week was very similar in the fact that I'm taking all that I've learned throughout the last seven weeks and trying my best to make last-minute critiques to my dives. Last week, I focused on getting down my final improvements on my freestyle start. This week, I focused on "Taking it Back" with backstroke and figuring out what exactly I need to do to get the closest possible to a perfect backstroke start.

diving outward
04/15/2018
Hello again! Much of this week was focused on all of the things that I've been working on in regards to my regular freestyle dive/start. Being that this is past half-way through the project, I'm starting to wrap up all the technical factors that go into my dives and starts. By reading further, you will be able to see how I've been working on "Diving Outward" and taking the last final steps to complete my regular freestyle dive.

the warm up
03/25/2018
Welcome back! If you have been following along throughout each week, you know that I've decided to focus on a particular stroke in preparation to improve my dive. Almost all of last week was concentrated on freestyle. This week, I decided to direct most of my attention towards backstroke. I once again have decided to include a snippet of one of my practices from the beginning of this week that shows myself really "warming-up" to backstroke

flip turn
03/18/2018
Hello again! This week was a major turning point in the project as a whole. I started to really take a look at my previous times and came to the conclusion that I need to focus on whichever stroke I'm practicing before even starting to look at how my dive effects my overall performance. Because of this, I have decided to include short videos of the stroke I'm focusing on for that particular week.

false start
03/11/2018
Welcome back! This week was both successful and a set back at the same time. I focused more on the additional exercise by doing a lot more physical training to strengthen my legs. I believe this may have taken some of my energy away to use for swimming, which resulted in my times being a little bit slower this week.

first splash in
03/04/2018
Hello again! This week was the first week of truly getting to start working in the pool, and what a success it was! My coach made sure to set aside a block of time to work on specific things such as my best strokes, dives/starts, and endurance. I saw major improvements in my times in comparison to my "base times" from last week.

Welcome back! I'm so excited to have my second blog post complete, and even more excited to be able to share it with y'all! I'm sad to say that I didn't swim as much as I previously stated that I would've this week. Although, this is only because I needed something to base my progress off of for the next eleven weeks. Overall, this week was a lot of planning for what is to come in the near future!

take your mark
02/18/2018
This project is dedicated to taking something I love, swimming, and combining it with another thing that needs improvement, diving. Over the next twelve weeks, I plan to not only practice in the pool to meet this goal, but also out of the pool. The dives that I intend to work specifically on my regular start, relay start, and my backstroke start.
